Choosing a Citation Management Tool

January 29 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Free

New to citation management, don’t know where to start, or trying to get familiar with the free tools supported at UBC? This workshop compares the two citation management tools supported at the Research Commons, Zotero and Mendeley, including a discussion of the similarities and unique features of each tool. We will also go over some commonly encountered challenges, and suggestions on how to work around them.  Attendees will understand the features of citation management tools Zotero and Mendeley; appreciate why one tool might be preferred over another for a particular user or specific purpose; and import metadata to create basic references using both Zotero and Mendeley.

Before the Workshop

If you’d like to follow along with the demonstrations, download the citation management tools Zotero and Mendeley, and the practice files attached to this event. Downloading and installing will be reviewed in the workshop and the presenter will attempt to troubleshoot any challenges, given time constraints.

This session will be recorded, and all registered attendees will receive the recording by email
