Abortion to Abolition: The Path to Reproductive Health & Justice in Canada
February 15, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
About the Talk
In the face of the fall of Roe in the US in 2022, it is critical for people in Canada to understand the unique and progressive legal standing of abortion in this country, and recognize our greatest threats to reproductive justice. Sexual violence, criminalization of sex work, reproductive oppression of Indigenous people; and the racism and colonialism of policing and prison systems violate the bodily autonomy and reproductive rights of people in Canada everyday. The abortion movement must embrace the philosophies of abolition to make the next leap in improving reproductive health and justice.
