Navigating Bias in the Hiring Process
April 10 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Have you ever felt you might be experiencing discrimination based on your identity? Are you worried that your unique identity might impact your chances of getting hired?
We invite you to join us for an informative webinar aimed at exploring effective strategies to navigate bias during the hiring process, from the initial application stage to negotiating a job offer.
We will not discuss discrimination in the workplace – but if you have questions about this issue, we can recommend other resources if you email: career.centre@ubc.ca
We understand that this is a heavy topic for many, and our top priority is to create a safe and welcoming space for all participants. To ensure your comfort and safety, we are implementing the following measures:
1. Your level of engagement is entirely at your discretion. You can choose to simply show up and listen or actively participate by asking questions and sharing your personal experiences.
2. Your involvement in this session will remain confidential. Your contributions will only be visible to the webinar host and will not be disclosed to other participants.
3. At the start of the session, we’ll collaboratively establish a community agreement following UBC’s Respectful Environment guidelines to ensure everyone feels respected and included.
If you have any questions about this webinar or need more information before deciding to join, please don’t hesitate to email the webinar host, Shabnam Khalaj at shabnam.khalaj@ubc.ca
