Map production with QGIS

June 28, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

This is an introductory workshop focusing on the fundamental concepts and skills needed to begin using QGIS to explore and analyze spatial data. It is also meant to help you understand how to get started composing a map document for print production. By the end of this workshop, attendees will have a basic understanding of spatial data, the QGIS graphical user interface, data attributes and symbolization, and how to publish a map for printing in a journal or report.

QGIS is a free and open source desktop geographic information system (GIS). It can be installed on Windows, MacOS, and Linux using the download instructions here: https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html. This workshop will use the Long Term Release version 3.22.

Please be sure to have the latest Long Term Release of QGIS installed on your laptop before arriving at the workshop. We will not be using a computer lab for this session and so public computers will not be available.

LOCATION: Research Commons Presentation Room (548/552), Walter C. Koerner Library
