Hearts of Freedom at UBC, Free Film Screening of Passage to Freedom Documentary by Sheila Petzold

June 4th free film screening of “Passage to Freedom” a documentary by Sheila Petzold .  After the one-hour film, there will be a broader, intercultural discussion of “The Impact of Forced Migration Across Our Communities”, from Indigenous, Japanese Canadian, and Cambodian American perspectives.

The film may be too intense for those under the age of 12, as some interviewees recount horrific and traumatic experiences like losing family members at sea, being shot at, having to bury execution victims of the Cambodian regime, brutal encounters with pirates, etc.)
