Choosing a citation-management tool
January 17 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
New to citation management, don’t know where to start, or trying to get familiar with the free tools supported at UBC? This workshop compares the two citation-management tools supported at the Research Commons, Zotero and Mendeley, including a discussion of the similarities and unique features of each tool. We will also go over some commonly-encountered challenges and suggestions on how to work around them.
Before the workshop
If you’d like to follow along with the demonstrations, download the citation-management tools Zotero and Mendeley. Downloading and installing will be reviewed in the workshop, and the presenter will attempt to troubleshoot any challenges, within the given time constraints.
Learning objectives
Participants will:
- Import metadata and create basic references using both Zotero and Mendeley.
- Understand the features of the citation-management tools Zotero and Mendeley and why one tool might be preferred over another for a particular user or for a specific purpose.
This session will be recorded, and all registered attendees will receive the recording by email.
