Understanding elder care: what you need to know to care for an elderly loved one

July 31, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Date: Monday, July 31, 2023

Time: 2 – 3 pm PST

Audience: All faculty and staff at UBC Vancouver and Okanagan

Location: Zoom.

About this workshop:

With an aging population, elder care responsibilities are now becoming a reality for an increasing number of Canadians. Caregiving is a multifaceted role, and quite different from any other; many individuals may find it very challenging to investigate and learn about the critical issues they will face as a caregiver for older loved ones. This seminar will help caregivers enhance their decision-making ability, and highlight why caregiving is a positive and rewarding role.

Objectives:

  • Anticipate and prepare for the care of an elderly loved one.
  • Understand the changes that occur as one ages.
  • Adapt a home to meet the evolving needs of the senior.
