Reveal: Coast Salish Two-Spirit Pride Mosaic

Overview

Celebrate and amplify Two-Spirit pride by witnessing the reveal of the Coast Salish Two-Spirit Pride mosaic – a visual representation of Coast Salish Two-Spirit unity, dignity and respect designed by xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) artist kʷəlasəltən (Mack Paul). The mosaic is located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) First Nation in the sidewalk along West Mall and to the east of the First Nations Longhouse X̱wi7x̱wa Library.

This installation is a collaboration between the Equity & Inclusion Office, Campus + Community Planning with support from First Nations House of Learning and X̱wi7x̱wa Library, and also builds on previous collaborations.

  • Hear remarks from community and campus partners, including the mosaic artist, on the history and impact of the project.
  • Enjoy lunch while connecting with other community members.
  • Witness the reveal of a mosaic representation of the Coast Salish Two-Spirit pride symbol installed in the sidewalk east of the First Nations Longhouse X̱wi7x̱wa Library.
