French – Discovering Cheese – Lower Intermediate to Advanced
December 12 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$30.00A la découverte des fromages – Cheese appreciation workshop
Cheese has long been an important part of traditional French culture. France has documented hundreds of varieties of cheese, and the average person is said to eat more than 26kg of cheese a year.
In this two-hour workshop, explore – and taste! – eight major families of cheese from Quebec and France. Appreciate the culture and history of each cheese family, learn how to cut cheese correctly, and find out about the aging process and its impact on taste. Write tasting notes as you sample a variety of cheeses, and receive helpful handouts for your next cheese adventure.
This cultural workshop is a great opportunity to practise your French listening, writing and speaking skills with members of the Francophone community in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. We recommend students have at least a lower intermediate level of French to participate comfortably.
Cheese, baguette, plates and cutlery are provided. Just bring your appetite.
This event is subsidized by the Centre de la Francophonie de UBC.
