This practical workshop, delivered by the UBC Library Research Data Management team, introduces the purpose and structure of a data dictionary to support clear, consistent, and reusable research data. Designed for graduate students, researchers, and staff, the session emphasizes how data dictionaries enhance data documentation, sharing, and reuse.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Create and maintain a data dictionary that aligns with best practices and supports FAIR principles
  • Use templates and tools to build data dictionaries that promote transparency and reproducibility across research projects
