AI for Coding: Explore, Prompt, and Build with GitHub Copilot

August 20 @ 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm

In the third part of our AI for Coding series, we will set up a GitHub Codespace environment. Here we will learn how to use GitHub Copilot to enhance our data exploration and coding . Working with a sample dataset, we’ll practice writing clear prompts and use Copilot’s chat features to generate R code to load, clean, and visualize the data.

This workshop builds on the environment participants set up in part two of the series. Prior experience with GitHub is not required, but to participate fully you will need a free GitHub account.

About the series: AI for Coding consists of three 30-minute workshops designed to help you use Large Language Models (LLMs) to support exploratory data analysis. We will introduce fundamental concepts, practice breaking down problems into actionable components, and use GitHub Copilot to integrate AI and code more efficiently. Each workshop begins with 30 minutes of teaching, followed by optional 15 minutes for questions, discussion, and practice.
