Speaker Biography: Shakeela Begum, LLB’03
Shakeela Begum is Director, Gift and Estate Planning at UBC, as well as a lawyer, leadership coach, and a UBC Workplace Wellbeing Ambassador. She helps people shift out of stress-driven habits and into greater clarity, presence, and resilience. Her work integrates neuroscience, somatic awareness, and contemplative practice to support meaningful and sustainable change. She has guided professionals across diverse sectors, including legal, academic, and philanthropic communities. She also volunteers with the Enneagram Prison Project, where she supports transformative learning for incarcerated people. With a grounded and compassionate approach to teaching, she focuses on simple moment-to-moment practices that strengthen attention, emotional steadiness, and effective action.
