Navigating Your Career Journey Through Storytelling from a Disability-Specific Lens

In this session for graduate students, you will have the opportunity to learn how to use stories and experiences within your life to build your resume and cover letter, identify the key skills you have, use those skills and interests to network, and take tangible steps to explore and build your career path as someone with a disability. You will also have the chance to ask questions and receive answers from an experienced Career Educator with a unique pathway and disability-specific knowledge.
This session is built to utilize stories to build a career plan to enhance your future.
Facilitated by Luke Penner
Luke Penner, a member of the Red River Métis, came from Winnipeg, Manitoba, located on original lands of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples as well as the Homeland of the Red River Métis. Luke is a Career Educator at the UBC Career Centre and assistant men’s basketball coach with the Thunderbirds. Luke is also a student at UBC now, working to get his PhD in Experimental Medicine. Luke enjoys the career exploration process and loves coaching students to realize, identify, and understand their talents and abilities. He is eager to help university students explore your journey and be a part of their support network at the University of British Columbia. He looks forward to hearing your story!
