Celebrating the contributions of Black nurses in health care

February 15, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

A one-hour virtual “walk-through” of a display highlighting Black nurses in Canada and the world.
Take a deep dive into the significant contributions of Black Nurses in Canada and across the world who paved the way to better healthcare. We encourage self-reflection on how historical events and the professionalization of nursing have contributed to current health and social inequities. This display and presentation was created by Dr. Lydia Wytenbroek, Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing, doctoral student Ismalia De Sousa, and nursing students Tamasha Hussein, Kelly Nguyen, Ariel Tzu-Han Chiao, Brandon Moeller and Merielle Moffatt.
The physical display is in the School of Nursing (UBC Hospital – third floor) and will remain on exhibit for a couple of months. This presentation will be recorded and the video made available on the Nursing website.
