UBCV Keynote – For What World Do We Prepare? Education Beyond Content

May 6 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Online

This event is part of the 2024 Celebrate Learning Week, taking place from May 6–10, 2024.

Keynote speaker: Bryan Dewsbury

Traditional models of education privilege technical growth over the cultivation of the mind and habits that make for a more peaceful and loving society.

In this session we will discuss ways in which classrooms can be reimagined as places where some of these habits can be made explicit. We will consider how leaning into the better angels of our nature better positions us to adapt to change and to collectively take on the vexing problems that still plague society.

Moderator: Dr. Elisa Baniassad, CTLT Acting Director and Professor of Teaching, Department of Computer Science.
