Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Uses in Health Care Services
February 13 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Speaker: Sian Tsuei
The health care industry has seen increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies over the last several years. The dizzying pace of development is generating a vast range of implications for health care service providers and policymakers. To facilitate productive dialogue and research on AI-related health services and policies implementation and research, this seminar aims to introduce high-level intuition of key types of modern AI technologies; contextualize the applications of AI technologies within a framework of health services dimensions; and highlight key regulatory and ethical considerations for AI technologies in health care services.
Dr Sian Tsuei is a practicing family physician and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Practice at UBC. He holds a Population Sciences PhD, specializing in health systems. His research program draws on and develops organizational behaviour theories to study health system change, particularly in relation to technological innovations. He serves on the AI Advisory Group of The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), and previously served on the Scientific Planning Committee for CFPC’s Roundtable on AI for Family Medicine.
Register in advance for this seminar and specify whether you will attend in-person in the School of Population and Public Health or online. A light lunch will be provided for in-person registrants.
