GradStart Orientation – Main Welcome

All incoming graduate students are invited to join us for our GradStart Main Welcome Day events!

There will be live welcome addresses, an overview of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (G+PS), an introduction to campus partners like the Graduate Student Society (GSS), resources and support for thriving in graduate school at UBC, and social sessions to meet your peers!

All sessions will be hosted in person with live-streaming options. Please note: all times are in PDT, and you can use this handy time converter to see what time it will be where you are.

Registration: For in-person participants, no registration is needed. The online streaming link for events in the Chan will be available the day before the event.

GradStart Welcome 2023

12:00 pm – 12:30 pm Chan opens. Arrival and mingling for international students

12:30 pm – 2:00 pm International Student Welcome

2:00 pm – 2:30 pm Break and arrival of domestic students

2:30 pm – 4:15 pm Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Welcome

4:15 pm – 6:00 pm ‘The Social’ Outdoor Fair
– There will be door prizes, live music, and games! Join this outdoor fair social event to say hi to your graduate peers and make some new friends!
– Location: Main Mall, near W. Robert Wyman Plaza

6:00 pm – 9:00 pm GSS Koerner’s Social
– Come to meet and mingle with other graduate students! Food, music, social!
– Location: Koerner’s Pub, 1758 West Mall
