Academic Integrity and AI

This workshop will explore academic integrity in an age of increased availability and capability of GenAI tools. It will review current frameworks, what instructors can do in their courses to continue to ensure learning rigor and measure learning outcomes, review UBC’s guidelines around the use of GenAI tools, and reflect student experiences and views. It will also highlight the resources available at UBC.
This workshop will be delivered jointly by the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) and the Academic Integrity Hub (AIH) and will explore:
- Context: What is the current context for GenAI and academic integrity in 2025? What are the challenges and opportunities connected to the use of AI tools?
- Communication: How can instructors support students through effective communication in their courses and clarify expectations in their syllabus?
- Teaching and Assessment Practices: How can faculty develop assessment strategies that continue to maintain academic integrity and learner equity? What supports are available to them?
- UBC Guidelines: What guidelines and procedures are in place at UBC?
- Student perspectives: What are students saying about GenAI tools and their challenges and opportunities?
