UBC Jazz Ensemble Director Jim Hopson leads the UBC Jazz Ensemble through a fabulous program of big band classics to contemporary jazz pieces. Program ranges from the early works of Duke Ellington to contemporary jazz-rock fusion and even elements of free jazz.
Director: Dr. Paolo Bortolussi The UBC Contemporary Players Ensemble is a dynamic and eclectic program of music featuring world-renown contemporary masterworks, as well as newly commissioned works by UBC composers.
Vern Griffiths, director The UBC Percussion Ensemble performs music for the vast spectrum of percussion instruments, including original works from the 20th century, transcriptions of familiar classics, and traditional dance music from Africa and Latin America. The group also encourages the creation of new repertoire for percussion ensembles by student composers.
