We’re officially into fall, UBC! There’s a lot going on in the month of October. Don’t miss out on some of the UBC classics like the Apple Festival, the Pumpkin Run (formerly known as the Great Trek), and more.

1. Oct 4: Global Experience Fair
Thinking about going abroad? Drop by the main lobby at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre anytime between 10:00 am and 4:30 pm on Wed, Oct 4 to find out what your international experience options are. Learn more.
2. Oct 4: International Research Roundtable – After the Ink is Dry
Join a group of leading practitioners and scholars from Canada, the U.S., Sweden, Israel and beyond who are exploring what happens when parties try to deliver on a negotiated deal ‘after the ink is dry.’ Examples featured will include those from the Great Bear Rainforest, the Ktunaxa territory, Kauai and Chesapeake Bay. This event will feature an interactive performance led by the Vancouver Playback Theatre. Learn more.
3. October 10: UBC Day of Learning – Envisioning our future at the 75th Anniversary of Japanese Canadian Internment
4. Oct 10 – 13: UBC United Way Campaign – A Week of Caring
Support a great cause by checking out the events going on all week. The line-up includes the 9th annual Great Pancake Race on Oct 10, the Turkey 2K Trot on Oct 11, the Arts Food Truck Festival on Oct 12, and a campus-wide 50/50 contest starting Oct 13. Learn More.
5. Oct 14 – 15: UBC Apple Festival
Get a taste of autumn at the 26th annual Apple Festival held at the UBC Botanical Gardens. There’ll be live music, apple tasting, cider, and more. The $5 entrance fee will get you access to the gardens too! Learn more.
6. Oct 18 – 19: Career Days
7. Oct 27: Pumpkin Run
Formerly known as the Great Trek, the Pumpkin Run is the revamped version of the event to celebrate the formation of the UBC Point Grey campus. Run or walk 8km around campus as an individual or as a group of 4 in a relay. Afterwards, there’ll be a post-event pancake lunch, smoothies, pumpkin-themed food, beverages, and celebrations. 8. Oct 29: The Foreclosure Follies
Come out to a Brecht-style cabaret, with plenty of music and comedy, asking some uncomfortable questions about how we regulate the financial sector. This quirky show is the product of economists, bankers and commercial law judges coming together with actors and creatives using the arts to pose essential questions in our society. Learn more.
