UBC Climb for Conservation

June 20 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Rise Above the Canopy. Protect What Grows Beneath.

Join the UBC Climb for Conservation at UBC Botanical Garden on June 20, 2026.

Most people who visit UBC Botanical Garden look up at the trees. On June 20, 2026, a group will climb into the canopy itself. While raising funds to protect the Amami Maple, one of the world’s most endangered maple species, you’ll experience the Garden from a whole new perspective, 160 feet above the forest floor.

This is the UBC Climb for Conservation. It is a mental and physical challenge, a rare and unforgettable view and a chance to be part of conservation work that has been building here for more than 110 years. The Amami Maple grows on a single steep hillside on a small island in southern Japan. There are only twelve mature trees left in the wild, and just three produce seeds. A single environmental disaster could wipe out the entire wild population overnight.

Whether you’re looking for a new challenge, a deeper connection to nature or a meaningful way to give back, this climb is for you.
