5 Upcoming Film Screenings at UBC, November 2018

Finish the term off right by checking out some film screenings on campus. 


1. Nov 14: Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World

 

The UBC Film Society and CiTR & Discorder are teaming up for a screening of RUMBLE: The Indians Who Rocked the World! They’re hosting this screening to create a space for Indigenous and First Nations volunteers and community members to connect. Come by the station at 6pm to hang and the movie will start at 6:30pm with popcorn, snacks, and good vibes!

2. Nov 20: CLARA

 

The UBC Astronomy Club is thrilled to offer you the unique opportunity to prescreen this 2018 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) selected film before the official release across Canadian theatres!

3. Nov 21: c̓əsnaʔəm, the city before the city

Directed by Elle-Maija Tailfeathers, the city before the city tells the story of the Musqueam First Nation’s 200-day vigil to halt a Vancouver condo development that unearthed ancestral remains. North of 49 Movies on Campus is a series of Canadian movie screenings on campuses across the country with support from Telefilm Canada and Vancouver International Film Festival.

4. Nov 28: In Pursuit of Silence

 

In Pursuit of Silence is a meditative exploration of silence and the impact of noise on our lives. The film takes the audience on an immersive cinematic journey around the globe—from a traditional tea ceremony in Kyoto, to the streets of Mumbai, the loudest city on the planet—and inspires viewers to both experience silence and celebrate the wonders of our world. The film’s Director and Co-Producer will lead a Question and Answer session following the screening.

5. Nov 28: Daisies/The Seashell and the Clergyman

 

Note: The Seashell and the Clergyman does not have a trailer.

For the last regular screening of the term, UBC Film Society presents a double feature of early feminist surrealism/absurdism for that weird time of year when the clocks have turned back and the exam panic is setting in.
