The Cave Painter

A play by Don Hannah, who is show in the photo.
The Cave Painter is a funny and moving one-woman show about being an artist, about dealing with loss, about masquerading as Alice B. Toklas and having a baby with Gertrude Stein. Dianne talks to the people she most loves and misses terribly; she’s a bawdy, atheist, feminist Job.
Dianne is a print-maker who derives her imagery from pre-history: Neanderthal teeth, the Jericho skulls, old bones. When her granddaughter asks her why, she answers, “I’m trying to understand what it means to be human.”
This is the last event in the Writer-in-Residence series and is co-sponsored by Playwrights Theatre Centre.

Those interested in attending dinner at Green College before the event are asked to purchase a dinner ticket at least by noon the business day before. Contact 604-822-8660 or visit the Green College website at www.greencollege.ubc.ca for further details
