5 Ways To Enjoy Reading Break at UBC

With reading break right around the corner, there are different ways to relax and unwind from school. These five events are just a small preview of what UBC has to offer from February 16 – 19.


Kids Take Over UBC

Celebrate the long weekend and bring out your family to the 3rd annual Kids Take Over UBC. The event offers unique experiences to attendees and allows them to participate in various roles on campus while working alongside with staff or volunteers. There are a variety of programs at UBC Theatre, Beaty Museum, Museum of Anthropology and more.

Lunchtime Drop-In Gymnastics

The UBC Osborne Center is hosting a drop-in gymnastics open house suitable for individuals of all skill levels. The Osborne Center is set up with a trampoline, rope, swings, rock climbing wall and other gymnastics equipment that can be used throughout the event. There are also certified instructors on-site to provide support and answer any questions. Regardless of whether this is your first time or 10th time, this is a great way to learn more about gymnastics.

Museum of Anthropology (MOA) Walk

As part of Move UBC Month, the Move U Crew is leading a 45-minute walk around the beautiful Museum of Anthropology. Take this time to enjoy the scenery that the campus has to offer and get a quick mid-day recharge to re-focus for the rest of your day. The Move U Crew is meeting at the Flag Pole Plaza at noon and you can find them wearing their turquoise shirts.

Lunch & Learn: Finding Your First Customer

Entrepreneurship@UBC’s Lunch & Learn sessions help fellow innovators, researchers and entrepreneurs at UBC learn about various obstacles throughout their journey. This session focuses on distinguishing your potential customers and market. Fraser Pogue, founder of Fraser Instrument, will discuss his experience in customer acquisition. This event helps provide insight and highlights the necessary resources to take your venture to the next step.

Drop-in Urban Hip Hop @ SRC

UBC Rec is hosting a drop-in hip hop class that is sure to get you moving. The class is led by dance instructor Cora, who will be showing you different routines and give some tips on how to approach hip hop choreography. Take this opportunity to finally pick up dance or simply take a study break and let loose for a while.
