The United Nations has declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests.
On World Forestry Day, March 21, the Faculty of Forestry will ceremonially plant a tree to commemorate the importance of forests in everybody’s life, the increasing international engagement and positioning of the Faculty as a global leader of forestry education and research.
Please join us as the Faculty of Forestry celebrates World Forestry Day in the International Year of Forests!
The celebration begins at 10:30 am in the Forest Sciences Centre, then moves outside
at 11:00 am for a ceremonial tree planting, celebrating our links with Asia.
Following the planting, we invite you to return inside to meet our students and learn about the Faculty’s current activities in Asia.
