DESCRIPTION:NVivo is computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software. This workshop introduces NVivo and provides an overview of features for importing files\, annotating\, coding and running queries. This lecture honours the work of Dr. Anne Tilley\, an Associate Professor Emerita whose commitment to inclusive education\, recreation and physical activity continues to shape this community. Anne Tilley is an Associate Professor Emerita of Human Kinetics (1958 – 1993) specializing in growth and development. Her work included substantive applied work in adaptive skill development. Ehsan Karim\, UBC School of Population and Public Health\n  \nAI tools are increasingly acting like research assistants: finding papers\, summarizing evidence\, writing code\, and drafting/reviewing manuscripts. Their outputs can be fast\, polished\, and persuasive — but sometimes the most convincing answer is the one that most needs checking. This seminar uses concrete demonstrations from statistical and epidemiologic research workflows to show why LLM audit literacy is becoming an essential research skill. Rather than offering a technical training session\, the talk highlights why verification\, documentation\, and domain expertise matter before AI-generated outputs are used in research and decisions. \nM. Ehsan Karim’s research focuses on biostatistics\, advanced epidemiological methods\, and causal inference\, including the evaluation of high-dimensional propensity score and machine learning applications. His recent work addresses the intersection of artificial intelligence and health research.

DESCRIPTION:Join us at our weekly drop-in tour through the Chung | Lind Gallery every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. PT. \nLed by Rare Books and Special Collections and the University Archives archivists\, tours can take up to 60 minutes and begin in the Gallery foyer. Located on Level 2 of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre\, the Gallery is free and open to the public. \nDrop-in tours offer visitors a chance to explore the histories represented in these collections\, ask questions\, and consider the ongoing relationship between past perspectives and life today. \nInterested in booking a tour for your class or large group?
