Top 5 Events to Help You Recharge For Finals Season

Finals season can be a stressful time and it’s important to take breaks to relax and unwind. Whether you have six finals or back-to-back projects, here are some events to check out when you’re in need of a much-deserved mental recharge.


1. Tune into the UBC Symphony Orchestra

When: April 16, 2021

It is proven that listening to classical music can relieve stress and help you to feel relaxed. The UBC Symphony Orchestra will be streaming a free live performance from the Chan Centre–give Mozart a go!


2. Quick Workout with UBC Recreation

When: Every Wednesday

Setting time aside for exercise is one of the easiest ways to improve focus and memory! Lunch & Lift is a series of free 2-in-1 interactive wellbeing workshops consisting of a 30-minute movement class, followed by a 30-minute interactive wellbeing session. These sessions will not only allow you to get some exercise in over lunch time but will also provide you with some great tips and tricks to support a healthy mind and body.

If you are looking for a fitness routine, UBC Rec also offers the Get Active At-Home program which you can try at the comfort of your home. It is four-week exercise workout plan for those who are new-to-fitness, or for those who are looking to change up their current routine. Check out how the UBC Events team took on the challenge of trying the workout plans!


3. Turn Panic into Power

When: April 21, 2021

If your stress or nervousness is getting in your way, this workshop will offer useful information and effective coping strategies to turn your unease into motivated, productive energy that will help you approach your goals with increased comfort and confidence.


4. Learn Something New at TEDxUBC

When: April 10–May 15, 2021

Take a break from your coursework with TEDxUBC! Join their first virtual conference, a month-long event where UBC student speakers share their stories, passions, and insights. Every Saturday, a new TEDx talk will be released to their social media accounts–available for viewing at your convenience. Tackling topics from AI assisted wheelchairs to period stigma, get ready to be surprised and inspired!


5. Feeling Stuck or Unsure

When: April 22, 2021

When you feel stuck, it is helpful to explore new opportunities and embrace the change that will help you move forward. The Centre for Student Involvement and Careers hosts amazing workshops like Feeling Stuck or Unsure, so bring your questions and get resources that will help you take action towards your goals.
