Friday, April 1, 2011 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
This April Fools day please join us for a giddy extravaganza of truly epic proportions as Theatre at UBC’s first annual Fun Raiser! hits the stage of the Frederic Wood Theatre with roller-skating, stilt soccer, fire juggling (poi), stand up comedy, live music, singing & dancing. Featuring the talents of both theatre students AND our illustrious faculty, this event is destined to become the stuff of legend. Yes folks, it’s going to be all that – plus you’ll enjoy a silent auction and party.
This inaugural Fun Raiser! is being held in honor of our own fun loving, multi-talented and passionate advocate for the arts Professor Stephen Heatley. Proceeds from the event will benefit our newest student award, the Kensaku Asano Memorial Award. Kensaku studied Theatre and English Literature at UBC and worked as a theatre and television actor in the years after he graduated. He died of cancer at the age of 25. For more information about this and other awards please see http://www.theatre.ubc.ca/scholarships.shtml
Our silent auction will feature original art, books, theatre tickets, tasty treats and much more. So, come out, bring your friends, shake off those winter blues and raise some serious FUN with us to advance student scholarships.
