Writing a Mindful, Learner-Centred and Inclusive Syllabus
August 25, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
This event is part of the CTLT Summer Institute, taking place from August 22–25, 2022: https://institute.ctlt.ubc.ca/summer-institute/summer-institute-events/
Your syllabus is an important document that lets students know about you and your course. Beyond providing standard contact information, learning objectives, course content and a schedule, it also includes how you will promote learning by building a partnership with your students. In this session, we explore the characteristics and benefits of a mindful, learner-centred and inclusive syllabus.
By the end of this workshop, learners will be able to identify elements of an inclusive and learner-centred syllabus, and explain the purpose(s) and benefits of an inclusive and learner-centred syllabus, from both the student and the instructor perspectives.
Facilitators:
– Gail Hammond, Associate Professor of Teaching, Land and Food Systems, UBCV
– Sue Hampton, Educational Consultant: Facilitation and Process Design, CTLT
This event will hosted online on Zoom.
