Transforming Materials into Accessible Formats with the SensusAccess Pilot

April 21 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Creating accessible digital content ensures that students of all abilities can fully engage with course materials. However, many documents, particularly older, scanned, or untagged PDFs, are not compatible with screen readers and other assistive technologies.

The Centre for Workplace Accessibility is piloting SensusAccess, a tool that enables UBC faculty, staff, and students to convert print and digital materials into a range of accessible formats. This session will provide an overview of the SensusAccess pilot, explore why accessible course materials are essential for teaching and learning, and provide a hand-on demonstration on how to use the tool to independently convert files into formats that meet diverse accessibility needs.
