EQUIP Health Care is hosting a webinar for direct health care providers across settings to deepen understanding of the intersections of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and substance use, share practical approaches to reducing stigma, and support health care providers and organizations to promote substance use health and embed equity-oriented, trauma- and violence-informed practices in their work.
Intended audience: Anyone providing direct care, across sectors, to people experiencing GBV and using substances. This might include sectors like: mental health, substance use, public health, maternity, corrections, school health, primary care, Indigenous Health, palliative care, cancer care, researchers in school settings, executive leaders in health authorities, nursing among others.
In this webinar, we will:
Share evidence-informed tools and resources on the intersections of gender-based violence, trauma, mental health, and substance use.
Support shared understanding of how these intersecting experiences shape health, safety, and access to care.
Provide practical, trauma- and violence-informed approaches to supporting substance use health and reducing stigma.
Offer strategies to support organizational change that promote the wellbeing of people experiencing gender-based violence and substance use, as well as the wellbeing of service providers.
