QGIS Intensive Series: Thematic Mapping with QGIS

This intermediate-level workshop will demonstrate how to create thematic maps using QGIS, a free and open-source Geographic Information System (GIS) for analyzing, modifying, and visualizing spatial data. Additionally, participants will learn how to perform queries on spatial data and edit the attribute table.

NOTE: Prior to the workshop date, please review our Introduction to Mapmaking with QGIS (https://ubc-library-rc.github.io/gis-mapping-intro/). Additionally, if you are new to QGIS, we recommend you review our workshop on Reference Mapping with QGIS (https://ubc-library-rc.github.io/gis-reference-mapping/) as well.

This workshop is taught by a graduate student in Geography with expertise in GIS and cartographic methods.

Things to do before arriving:

QGIS is a free and open source desktop geographic information system (GIS). It can be installed on Windows, MacOS, and Linux using the download instructions here: https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html. This workshop will use the latest Long Term Release version. Please make sure you have this installed on your computer.
