Panel | Promoting Responsible GenAI Practices in Students’ Writing
May 5 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

This event is part of the 2026 Celebrate Learning Week, taking place from May 4 – 8, 2026.
The emergence of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has introduced new possibilities in education (Jiang & Hyland, 2025). However, unguided GenAI use can be detrimental to students’ learning as it may lead to overreliance, affecting students’ critical thinking and problem-solving.
This panel discussion gives an opportunity to hear from:
- Faculty who introduced innovative ideas to respond to GenAI use in writing to guide students. Faculty promote an integrated approach to GenAI use that could strengthen students’ autonomy and critical thinking.
- Students who choose to write without GenAI to maintain authenticity and voice.
- Students who take advantage of GenAI use while maintaining their voice.
- Students who want more guided GenAI use.
