Indigenous Graduate Student Summer Writing Circle Series

Join us for the Indigenous Summer Graduate Writing Circle series, an online space created for Indigenous graduate students to write in community. There are four sessions in the series to take part in:
- Friday, May 29, 9 AM – 12 PM PDT
- Thursday, June 25, 1– 4 PM PDT
- Friday, July 24, 9 AM – 12 PM PDT
- Thursday, August 27, 1– 4 PM PDT
Whether you’re working on a thesis, course paper, dissertation, or creative project, you’re welcome to come as you are and write at your own pace.
Facilitator
Anik Chartrand (she/her) is a Red River Métis citizen with the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) from Treaty 1 Territory. Her paternal Métis family is from St. Laurent, Manitoba, and her maternal family is French-Canadian from La Broquerie, Manitoba. She is the Indigenous Initiatives Specialist at UBC’s Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and a PhD Candidate in Indigenous Literature at Brandeis University. Anik holds a BA English from the University of North Dakota and an MA English from Iowa State University. Her work centers on supporting Indigenous graduate students and postdocs.
Alongside dedicated writing time, these circles offer opportunities to connect with other Indigenous graduate students, share resources and strategies, and be part of a supportive, community-centered space grounded in care and mutual support.
