Grant Writing and Generative AI: Practical Strategies, Risks, and Responsibilities

Drawing on recent scholarship, this interactive workshop examines the potential uses and limitations of generative AI tools in grant proposal writing. Participants will compare human-written, AI-assisted, and AI-generated proposal excerpts to evaluate how GenAI can affect the author’s articulation of research gaps, significance, and feasibility. The session offers practical strategies for using GenAI critically, assessing the reliability of its writing and feedback, and maintaining responsibility for the proposal’s ideas, evidence, and voice.
