Disability Justice Book Club: Disability Allies Cohort

September 22, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Event Series (See All)
Free

UBC Library’s EDI Scholars-in-Residence program is pleased to host the Disability Justice Book Club across Term 1, in two groups: the Disability Allies cohort and Disabled and Proud cohort. The club, led by Dr. Jennifer Gagnon, will explore themes of disability justice, ableism, allyship, and what it means to be disabled in academia. We will read a selection of texts each month before meeting to discuss takeaways.

Join the Disability Allies Cohort if you identify as disabled and would like to broaden your understanding of disability justice while connecting with other self-identified disabled people at UBC. The club is a valuable opportunity to engage with new texts and scholarship, share your perspective, and hear from others.

The first meeting will be hosted in-person in the Peña Room at Irving K. Barber Learning Centre. We will provide distanced seating for immunocompromised and Covid-conscious participants. An online meeting option will also be provided.
