Contract Faculty CoP: Two-way Interaction: A Major Challenge for Hybrid Courses

February 9, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm

Free

Last term, a number courses had to be offered in a hybrid mode because of this pandemic. This delivery mode enables students to attend these courses either in person or online synchronously. It is true that on UBC campus 70% of GTS classrooms of 30 seats and above having the ability to offer courses in hybrid mode. However, equipment installed in classroom does not provide two-way interaction for online students. These students can watch and hear the instructor but cannot communicate with the instructor or interact with classmates. Working with ArtsISIT, one hybrid mode was tested and it worked well last term. It could be a practical solution for some hybrid courses.
