CHSPR Seminar | Harnessing the Power of Nature to Support Patient Recovery After Abdominal Surgery

Speaker: Annalijn Conklin, University of BC

This talk will review the evidence on nature Rx, including a recent scoping review in the context of surgery, and present new findings from a patient survey on nature experiences, preferences and barriers to nature Rx following colorectal surgery.

Dr Annalijn Conklin is an associate professor (tenure) at UBC and leads a program of social epidemiology and metabolic outcomes research (SEMOR) to support healthy aging and reduce heart health inequities in women in Canada. Dr Conklin is an expert in the social determinants of health, particularly from a gender perspective of differential effects in women and in men. Dr Conklin is a recognized champion of sex and gender-based analysis in health research and uses both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
