CHSPR Seminar | Evaluating Inequities in Refugee & Immigrant’s Health Care Access
November 7 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Speaker: Ruth Lavergne, Dalhousie University
The Evaluating Inequities in Refugee & Immigrant’s Health Access project aimed to understand the health experiences of immigrants and migrants (im/migrants) in BC. With community engagement as the backbone to the study, it combined interviews with im/migrant community members and linked health and immigrations data to explore access to health care since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This seminar will provide an overview of study findings, and discuss lessons learned with respect to analytic choices and interpretation of findings from health and immigration data linkage research.
Ruth Lavergne is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Dalhousie University and holds a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Primary Care. Dr Lavergne’s program of research aims to address disparities in access and build evidence to ensure primary care organization, delivery, and workforce meet the needs of Canadians now and in the future.
