CGS-D Proposal: Crafting a Compelling Research Story
September 3 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
This in-person workshop is designed for graduate students applying for the Canada Graduate Scholarship – Doctoral (CGS-D) from the national funding agencies: CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC. Drawing on evidence-based research about successful grant proposals the facilitator discusses particular elements of this written academic genre: audience, purpose, knowledge gap, competence claim, structure, style, and more. The workshop includes examples of successful UBC CGS-D research proposals as well as embedded time to write.
Highlights of this in-person event include light refreshments (coffee, tea, snacks) and written feedback writing consultations with a doctoral peer from the Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication. Writing consultations will take place in the days following the workshop. Bookings will be on a first come first served basis, available exclusively to workshop attendees.
Facilitator: Dr. Patty Kelly, Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication
Location: IKBLC, Level 3, Dodson Room.
