Black Canadian history and Applied Science: Understanding and reconciling the history of our professions

February 1, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Free

Date: February 1, 2023

Time: 3:00 – 4:30 PM PST

Location: Presentation will take place in Fred Kaiser 2020 and 2030 and via Zoom

The Faculty of Applied Science welcomes all UBC students, faculty, staff and alumni to join us in celebration as we kick off Black History Month. Bashir Mohamed, our very own EDI.I Coordinator in the APSC EDI.I Office, will give a talk focused on Black Canadian history and how the history relates to our disciplines in Applied Science. Bashir has an interest in Black Canadian history and hopes that the talk will build awareness around the history of our professions and how we may reconcile with the legacy of the past.

This is a hybrid event, in-person and online.

For those who can not join in-person, we will be streaming the presentation live on zoom.

If you are attending in-person or virtually, please complete the short online registration form below to confirm your attendance and recieve the automated calendar invite and zoom link directly to your email.
