Beyond Prompting: Creating Teaching Materials with Claude Skills and NotebookLM
September 2 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
This 90-minute online hands-on workshop explores how generative AI can support the development of teaching materials and curriculum resources in higher education. Moving beyond prompting and generating outputs, participants will experiment with richer AI-supported workflows that combine source materials, iterative refinement, research tools, lightweight agents, and structured inputs such as syllabi and learning outcomes to generate activities, assessments, lesson plans, and curriculum maps.
The session introduces approaches such as Claude Skills, NotebookLM, and Deep Research and explores how faculty can build more sophisticated AI-supported processes through AI interaction rather than traditional coding. Participants will compare outputs across tools, test practical workflows, and critically evaluate the opportunities and limitations of AI-generated teaching materials.
Participants are invited to bring course materials or ideas for course material development.
