BC Teachers of English as an Additional Language 2023 Conference

The British Columbia Teachers of English as an Additional Language (BC TEAL) 2023 Conference, hosted by the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia (UBC), is a groundbreaking event that brings together educators, researchers, and language enthusiasts from across the province and beyond. Scheduled for May 4 – 6, 2023, this interdisciplinary conference focuses on innovative approaches to teaching students who hold English as an additional language. The conference highlights the intersection of Land and Language, placing particular emphasis on the theme: Reconciliation, Reflection, Innovation, and Transformation.

Conference participants will have the opportunity to explore various aspects of language education by engaging in hands-on workshops, becoming immersed in outdoor sessions, and becoming grounded in well-being sessions. Networking with peers will take place throughout the conference but is the focus of the Pearson Reception. Following the Pearson Reception will be a Drag Performance organized by and starring a Forestry graduate student, Batty B Banks.
