—————————————————————————————————–

Lovelyn Charles is a Nigerian-born pharmacist turned clinical researcher whose career has crossed continents and crises. She began in community pharmacy, but an Ebola outbreak in sub-Saharan Africa changed her course. Answering a call for an international vaccine development initiative, she left day-to-day pharmacy to pursue work that could protect entire populations, trading the work of helping one patient at a time for the chance to help millions. Her journey then took her to Canada, where she completed graduate studies in pharmaceutical sciences at UBC before returning to clinical research. Today she is a Senior Scientist, Clinical Research at Emergent BioSolutions.

Drawing on experience across two continents and some of the most challenging moments in global health, Lovelyn speaks candidly about building a career that adapts to disruption, from outbreaks to AI, and about finding purpose in the unexpected turns along the way.
