Day of the Longboat: Then and Now

This year marks the 30th anniversary of UBC Recreation’s Day of the Longboat. A dig through the archives gets us a look back at photos from the 1997 10th anniversary event.

Other than the direction of the course, it’s remarkable how the event has remained relatively untouched since its debut in 1987. From the beginning, the event has been held on an autumn weekend at Jericho beach with thousands of students paddling the 2km course in voyageur canoes.

Year after year, rain or shine, students are out enjoying themselves and taking on a UBC tradition.

If you want to be a part of a UBC legacy, find out more about registering before September 18!
